LOCHGELLY MINERS' INSTITUTE

The refurbishment of this important local historical building has come about thanks to a working partnership between FWTC and Adam Smith College and has been supported by a variety of funders including:
Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Heritage Building Preservation Trust, Communities Scotland, Heritage Lottery Fund, European Regional Development Fund, Historic Scotland, Fife Council and the Robertson Trust
In its heyday, the Institute played host to a range of social events. Many in the area met their husband or wife-to-be at the dances held in the centre and the building was also popular for weddings, parties and children’s activities.

Thanks to the refurbishment the Institute is yet again at the hub of the community and many local people are taking advantage of the wide range of courses and learning opportunities available.
Councillor Brian Goodall, Strategic Chair, Housing and Communities Committee at Fife Council, commented: “I am delighted to see the old Lochgelly Miners’ Institute transformed into such as fantastic resource for the community. I would encourage anyone thinking about taking up one of the courses to drop into the Institute at any time. Friendly staff will be able to answer any questions you may have.”
THE END RESULT!
